Connections

Last night I attended a monthly meeting for photographers. A group of us get together once a month here in SLC to discuss business, market trends, best practices and what is "hot" in the industry right now. We met at  the Art Space Buildings down by the Gateway. I must say the Art Space is an ideal place to be if your an artist. I just loved the building we were in, it was ubber cool and unlike anything else in SLC. The evening’s topic was the importance of marketing and branding your business. We were asked such questions as "how does your business represent who you are?" "does your branding match your personality and who your target market is?" After the discussion, I was able to leave with a clear picture of how I want my business to be represented and what my logo will stand for.  It was a great chance to connect with many talented people. I can’t wait till next month when the topic will be "websites: what works and what doesn’t."

Love Affair

Next month I leave for a week long photography workshop in South Carolina. I am so incredibly excited. I know that it’s going to be an incredible week! There will be 40 women from all over the country and I will be learning from some of the top people in the industry and yes, it’s for women only!

I just love capturing the beauty of pregnancy and it didn’t hurt that she was such a natural in front of the camera.

Goals

I have always been a firm believer in goal setting. As I begin a new year I decided to take out some of my old journals to review what my past goals have been and I was not surprised to learn that many of my goals are the same they were 5 years ago. The things I have been truly passionate about have not changed. I wanted to review these goals and see what I have accomplished and what I still want to do.

Accomplished:

Volunteer for a children’s organization, currently I volunteer for Make A Wish

Going to Europe

Workout to develop a healthy body – this one is always on my list.

I love checking things off lists, I get such a high to make a list and then complete it. Grocery lists, errands lists, cleaning lists, things to buy lists, it could go on and on. I make a list for just about everything. So to go back through and see some of my goals I have accomplished is a great feeling. It also gives me that much more motivation to make new goals and complete those.

As you can see some of my goals are what I call “lifetime goals” or dreams of mine that I have for myself.
Including showcase my photography in an exhibit or be published in a magazine. I wrote “lifetime goals” back in 2000!! These are goals that I am contiously working on. I’m inspired to see things from 2000 and that what was important back then to me is still important to me today.

So if you have not written your goals or your dreams down, do it today!! Writing it down and looking at it every few days makes it real, it keeps it on your mind and it’s so exciting and exhilirating to check it off and know that you accomplished what you set out to do!

So, what are your goals and dreams?
